Instructions for filling up application for NRN ID Card

 Visit the website: nrn.mofa.gov.np

  • Click ‘Sign Up’ and fill up your details to create your account
  • Click ‘Sign In’
  • Click ‘Continue’ under “नेपाली मुलको विदेशी नागरिक”
  • Select “नेपाली राजदूतावास, वाशिङ्गटन डि.सी.”
  • Select ID Card Type; For Example, select ‘New’ if you are applying for the first time
  • Fill up all the details in section ‘1’ as follows:
    • ‘१ क’ your first name, middle name and last name
    • ‘१ ख’ your full name in Nepali; your current nationality; and your date of birth
    • ‘१ ग’ your father’s full name and address
    • ‘१ घ’ your mother’s full name and address
    • ‘१ ङ’ your current foreign passport number
    • ‘१ च’ other details of your current foreign passport
    • ‘१ छ’ your previous address in Nepal
    • ‘१ ज’ details of citizenship renouncement of Nepal, if any, as well as the details of your current citizenship
    • ‘ १ झ’ information about your immediate relatives in Nepal
  • Save the page and visit ‘Section 2’ and fill up the details as follows and enter ‘submit’:
    • ‘२ क’ Country of residence; province/state; and address
    • ‘२ ख’ date of naturalization or date of citizenship obtained, or date of issuance of birth certificate in case of a foreign born citizen.
  • Fill up the details asked in Section 3, 4 & 5 (३,४ र ५)
  • Upload documents in the designated sections:
    • Upload your biographic data page of your current passport in ‘Visa/PR Document upload’ section
  • Upload Copy of Nepali citizenship of the applicant (if the applicant remained a Nepali citizen in the past, first generation NRN) Or, Copy of Nepali citizenship of the father or mother of the applicant (if the applicant is second generation NRN, i.e. the applicant is born as foreign national but his/her father or mother were Nepali citizen) Or, Copy of Nepali citizenship of grandfather/grandmother of the applicant (if the applicant is third generation NRN, i.e. the applicant and his/her father or mother are born foreign national but the applicant’s grandfather/grandmother were citizens of Nepal) and the document that proves the relationship between the applicant and the grandparent.
  • Recent passport size photo (400*300 pixel size)
  • Applicant’s signature
  • Naturalization certificate or citizenship certificate, or US birth certificate if the applicant was born in the United States.
  • Visit ‘Review section’ and carefully review the details you filled up and documents you uploaded. Print out the application form and sign on it.
  • Visit ‘Card request’ section and click ‘Apply for Card’ button and submit your application.

In case of application for ‘Nepali nationals living abroad’, you may proceed to the application by clicking ‘विदेशमा बस्ने नेपाली नागरिक’ button, immediately after signing in.
