Nepali Diaspora and Investment Opportunities in Nepal

The Embassy organized today an interactive event titled ‘Nepali Diaspora and Investment Opportunities in Nepal’ in Washington D.C. to promote foreign direct investment in Nepal. Businessmen, investors, representatives of Non-Resident Nepali Association (NRNA) and various Nepali community organizations in the US, and experts participated in the program.

Charge’ d’Affaires, a.i. (CDA) Mr. Kumar Raj Kharel, highlighting reform measures carried out by the Government of Nepal in the recent times to attract foreign direct investment in Nepal, called on the Non-Resident Nepalis (NRN) in the USA to capitalize on the incentives offered to the NRNs. Underscoring the need for further reform measures and effective implementation of the existing investment related regulations in Nepal, NRNA-NCC, USA President Mr. Buddhi Sagar Subedi expressed the hope that the volume of NRN investment could increase in the coming days. At the beginning of the program, Economic Counsellor at the Embassy, Mr. Homkanta Bhandari made a brief presentation on investment related policies and recent reform measures undertaken by the Government of Nepal to attract foreign direct investment. Businessmen and investors shared their experiences in doing business in Nepal and suggested measures to further improve the investment climate.

Responding to various queries and concerns raised during the program, CDA Kharel assured the participants of the Embassy’s fullest cooperation and facilitation in the process of bringing investment to Nepal. The interactive program was moderated by Mr. Uttam Ghimire, Second Secretary at the Embassy.
