Redefining Nepal: An Ambassador’s Perspective


Ambassador Sridhar Khatri visited Springfield, Illinois from 15th to 17th November 2022. On 16th November, he spoke on the topic of “Redefining Nepal: An Ambassador’s Perspective” in a program held by the World Affairs Council Central of Springfield, IL. Speaking on the occasion was also former American Ambassador to Nepal, Scott DeLisi.

The Ambassador also interacted with young college and high school students interested in diplomacy.

Ambassador Khatri also met James O. Langfelder, the Mayor of Springfield. Also meeting the Mayor with the Nepali Ambassador are Ambassador Scott DeLisi and Kathy A. Johnson, Senior Foreign Service (ret.).

Dr. Jerry Kruse, the Dean and Provost of the Southern Illinois University School of Medicine gave a tour of the school to Ambassadors. The visit included a trip to the Professional Development Laboratory for clinical simulations and presentations.

Ambassador Khatri visited the geriatrics research lab of Andrzej Bartke, Ph.D., and their longevity research. Working with Dr. Bartke are four young Nepali students assisting in the research within various capacities.

During his stay at Springfield, the Ambassador visited the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library & Museum and visited the tomb of President Lincoln. He also met with the World Citizen Alliance of Rotarians, who are planning to visit 2-3 rotary projects in Nepal in November 2023.
