Ambassador of Nepal to the United States of America, H.E. Mr. Lok Darshan Regmi, assumed office at the Embassy of Nepal in Washington, D.C., on 21 March 2025. He previously served as the Ambassador of Nepal to the United Kingdom in 2021.

Before his ambassadorial appointments, Mr. Regmi held the position of Chief Secretary of the Government of Nepal from 2017 to 2020. He has over two decades of experience in Nepal's civil service, having served in various high-level roles as the Secretary of the Ministry of Home Affairs (2016–2017), Secretary of the Ministry of Finance (2015–2016), and Secretary of the Ministry of Land Reform and Management (2014–2015). He also served as Regional Administrator for the Western Regional Administration Office from 2013 to 2014.

As a Joint Secretary, Mr. Regmi played key roles in several ministries, including the Ministry of Environment, Science and Technology. He also served as Chief Customs Administrator, Chief Tax Administrator, and Chief of the Budget and Program Division at the Ministry of Finance.

Mr. Regmi has represented Nepal as head of delegation at major international conferences, including the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) and the Basel Convention on the Control of Transboundary Movements of Hazardous Wastes and Their Disposal.

In recognition of his service, the Government of Nepal has conferred Ambassador Regmi with several national honors: the Prasidda Prabal Janasewa Shree in 2018, SukritimayaRastra Deep in 2016, SuprabalJanasewa Shree in 2013, and the Gorkha Dakshina Bahu Fourth in 2002.

Mr. Regmi holds a Bachelor's degree in Law and a Master's degree in Public Administration from Tribhuvan University, Nepal. He is married to Chandra K. Regmi, and they have two sons.
