Ambassador Sridhar Khatri attended the signing ceremony of the Respect for Marriage Act by President Joe Biden on the South Lawn of the White House yesterday, on 13th December. The new law, which was earlier passed by the US Congress, protects the same sex and interracial marriage in the US. Nepal, as a member of the UN LGBTI Core Group, welcomes and appreciates the passage of the law and looks forward to working together with the US on bilateral and multilateral forums in further protecting and advancing the rights of the LGBTQI+ community.
