Photo exhibition by Kiranman Chitrakar on Nepal-US relations

The Embassy organized a two-day photo exhibition titled ‘Nepal-US Relations: A partnership through Chitrakar Lens’ in Washington, D.C. on 15-16 August 2024. Charge’ d’Affaires, a. i. (CDA) Kumar Raj Kharel inaugurated the exhibition on the 15th of August amidst the gathering of guests that included Deputy Assistant Secretary (DAS) of State Nicole Chulick, Deputy Assistant Administrator (DAA) of USAID Anjali Kaur, other officials from the State Department and other US agencies, former US Ambassadors to Nepal, and Nepali-American community members. The exhibition included altogether 35 selected historic photographs mainly related to Nepal-US relations taken by former Official Photographer of the Government of Nepal Mr. Kiranman Chitrakar, his grandfather Dirghaman Chitrakar, his father Ganeshman Chitrakar and his son Swarajman Chitrakar. The photos were curated by Kiranman Chitrakar’s daughter and art historian Cristeena Chitrakar.  Welcoming the guests CDA Kharel highlighted important historic moments in Nepal-US relations. Appreciating the works of Mr. Chitrakar, DAS Chulick and DAA Kaur shed light on various aspects of close and longstanding multi-faceted bilateral relations between Nepal and the US.
