On July 17th, CDA Kumar Raj Kharel welcomed a nine-member Nepali health ministry delegation led by the Secretary of Health, Hari Prasad Mainali. The delegation was in Washington, D.C., to participate in a USAID-supported training program on best practices in Public Finance Management (PFM) for the health sector. The training program was conducted by the International Development Institute (IDI) based in Virginia. The Health Secretary and members of his delegation also met with Virginia Delegate Kannan and Irene Shin and were recognized on the Virginia General Assembly floor. They also met with Fairfax County’s Director of Health to learn about the roles of the three layers of government in the US health sector– federal, state, and local.
